A couple available bunnies

We're down to the last ~50 stranglers for calving so there is an end in sight! We've been playing with some juniors in the mean time and have decided to part with a couple. Both are siblings out of GC(pending registration) SLR's Sundance Kidd and a Knolands doe from the states born on March 15/19.

* SOLD * SLR's F96 broken tort buck, this dude didn't wean very well and lost quite a bit of condition in the process but he's back up on his feet and ready to go now. He'll be a smaller boy and has more overall length and narrowness then I would like to see for either a show or brood buck so we're looking for a pet home for this dude. Relaxed, sweet and friendly guy. $60 as a pet with no pedigree.

*SOLD* SLR's F95 broken tort doe. She's a pretty doe who would make a great pet or brood doe. She's got a good solid body and a pretty head coming in. Does have length in the shoulder and may be around the 4 pound mark once fully grown. $60 as a pet or $100 as brood.

It's THAT time again!

We re full swing into calving season here on the ranch so we usually take a break from most e-mails(minus emergencies) until we have things back under control here. I apologize ahead of time for the delay in response time from us!

We have went through the barn with a fine tooth comb and are making some senior animals available to head to new homes shortly. We'll post those ones in a week or two - color wise there should be a tri, broken black, tort, broken tort and a harlequin.

We've also had a few new litters born here.

GC(Pending registration) SLR's Annie Oakley had five babies sired by SLR's Wyatt Earp on May 9th. One broken tort, one solid tort, one blk/org tri and two harlequins.

SLR's Huckleberry Finn x SLR's Blake had six kits also on May 9th, one chestnut, one black, and the rest are harlequins.

SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's Maisie had four kits also on the 9th, one peanut, one tort and two harlequins.

SLR's Huckleberry Finn x SLR's Lonesome Dove had three kits on May 11, one DOA, one peanut and one harlequin.

Available bunnies

Here's a list of available bunnies we have right now. Please be patient when e-mailing us as we are currently calving so are spending a lot of time out in the field.

* SOLD * SLR's Black otter buck, out of SLR's Fergus(Blk/org harli) and SLR's Blake(Black) Born mid January 2019. Looking to be a promising buck for show or breeding but is a laid back guy to make a pet too. If putting this dude into a breeding program please keep in mind that he is out of a harlequin buck so could carry the harlequin gene and the only way to know for sure would be to test breed him. Should mature around the 4 lb mark. $60 for pet or $90 for brood/show

* SOLD * SLR's Black and orange harlequin buck. Sibling to the buck above but this little dude is the tiny one of the bunch. These two were fostered and raised by a different mom and this guy just didn't get as much milk as he should of from the start. Growing and is healthy but he's going to be too little to compete show wise plus he is a harlequin. Should mature around the 3lb mark and needs crown development(his ears are above horizontal right now and I'm not sure if they will fully lop when he is full grown). Is available to a pet home for $60.

* SOLD * SLR's Brynn is looking for a pet home. She's a broken tort doe who is a sweet heart and has one of the best bodies in the barn paired with a decent head but a wonky crown so her ears are above horizontal. We've tried to breed her a few times now and she's just not cut out to be a brood doe so is looking for a great pet home. On the shyer side but is sweet and loves her pets. $30 for pet only. The above photos of her are her junior photos.

* SOLD * SLR's Fergus a black and orange harlequin buck born in Dec 2017(he's just over a year old) out of Registered SLR's Oreo(brk blk) and SLR's Lonesome dove(blk/org harli). Fergus is an ataB-C-D-ej(e?) harli buck that we held back as he has beautiful bright pretty clean orange so were hoping he might be an agouti based harli however he is not. He's available to a pet or breeding home. This is a buck to add color to your program but not type. He has a poor crown so his ears are above vertical, he is a decently short buck but has a lower slightly longer shoulder and could use more overall fullness and width. Decent hindquarter, could use better bone being a senior buck. $40 for a pet or $60 for brood

*No Photos currently available*
 * SOLD * SLR's Tort buck born in September 2018 out of Reg. SLR's Oreo(brk blk) and SLR's Torlee(blk/org harli). This guy would be a good addition to someone's program as a breeding buck however he may "carry" the harli gene(he might have a bit of black that actually makes him a torted harlequin instead of a tort, that isn't really visible to the eye) so would do best in a tri/harlequin program. He has a good shoulder, could use more fullness to his midsection and hindquarter, is a fairly short buck, could use better bone, decent head for a younger buck and a poor crown(ears are above vertical). I debated keeping this guy back to use in the tri program however I don't want to keep back a tort buck that is only used in our tri program as we have better tort bucks. $40 for pet or $70 for brood.

We are located close to Grande Prairie Alberta Canada. Transport down from Grande Prairie to Calgary along highway 43 and highway 2 is available in May 2019.

Send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com (remove spaces) If anyone here interests you.
Please note that we are calving here on the ranch and our response time significantly slows down during this time.

An available doe and a new litter

* SOLD * SLR's Brynn is looking for a pet home. She's a broken tort doe who is a sweet heart and has one of the best bodies in the barn paired with a decent head but a wonky crown so her ears are above horizontal. We've tried to breed her a few times now and she's just not cut out to be a brood doe so is looking for a great pet home. On the shyer side but is sweet and loves her pets. $30 for pet only.

These are some junior photo's of her.

We've also had a new litter born about an hour ago out of SLR's Sundance Kidd and an outcross tort doe that we purchased in January. She had six torts total however three are peanuts so she'll have three to raise. There's a second doe that we also purchased in January that is expecting today as well so we'll update this post once she kindles. Also bred to Kidd but is a broken tort. We don't often purchase bunnies so we'll see how these gals cross into our program here. We will probably have a few senior brood animals available for new homes in later summer or fall as we are hoping to keep back a few from the litters born this spring and replace some parents with their offspring.

*Update March 15/19 Our broken tort doe had a litter of five with three being DOA so she has one solid tort and two broken torts in the nest now. One of these broken torts will be available at 8 weeks.

Show wins, new litters and available bunnies!

We’ve just gotten back from the EARS show in Wetaskiwin on Feb 16/17. SLR’s Annie Oakley took 4/4 Best of Breed wins and went on to be awarded two RIS wins! We just need to get this little gal registered and then send in for her GC papers as she now has 7 senior legs from two show weekends.

We have also had a few litters born here this last month and I’ll list them below.
SLR’s Sundance Kidd x GC SLR’s Summer Breeze has one broken tort buck and one orange(possibly a fox) doe.
Reg. SLR’s Wyatt Earp x GC SLR’s Annie Oakley has one black and orange harlequin buck
GC Clear Sky’s Marley x GC KP’s Treasure has one tort buck and one tort doe
SLR’s Fergus x SLR’s Blake has two black otter bucks and one black/orange harlequin buck
SLR’s Fergus x SLR’s Honeybee has one black/orange harlequin doe

We also have nine more does due in the first two weeks of March so will post those when babies are born.

We are going to let Fergus go as he is a confirmed otter based harli which we are trying to breed out. He’s got two harli kits in the box now and we might hold one of those back depending on type and test breed it to see if it’s also otter based. Eventually we’ll get all self based tris and reintroduce the agouti gene to get back to correctly colored tris. We have bred GC Campo’s Fire N’ Ice to two broken black does here so are crossing our fingers for a chestnut or agouti based orange. Any otters from these litters will be available.

Available bunnies;

SLR's Fergus a black and orange harlequin buck born in Dec 2017(he's just over a year old) out of Registered SLR's Oreo(brk blk) and SLR's Lonesome dove(blk/org harli).

SLR's Tort buck born in September 2018 out of Reg. I debated keeping this guy back to use in the tri program however I don't want to keep back a tort buck that is only used in our tri program as we have better tort bucks. $40 for pet or $70 for brood.

SLR's black otter bucks out of SLR's Fergus(blk/org harli) and SLR's blake(black) born mid January 2019. We don't keep any otters back so these guys will both be available once they are weaned. Unsure of quality at this point but are looking like they could be decent bucks. May carry the harlequin gene. $60 as pets or price dependent on quality once they are old enough to evaluate.

BIS SLR’s Annie Oakley

SLR’s Annie Oakley took a Best In Show win at the farm fair show in Edmonton. She earned three legs over the weekend as a just senior doe so just need to send in for her GC papers. This was a little doe that we knew had that something special from a young age and it’s always so nice when a judge agrees with you. She finished the weekend with one BIS/BOB and two BOS wins. Here’s a couple rough phone photos of this little gal.

Two available bunnies

We're posting a couple bunnies that will be available to head to new homes once they are weaned at 8 weeks old. We are planning to head to the Farm Fair show in Edmonton AB November 9-11th and can bring them down to meet at the show for no additional charge. We'll get some photos of these guys once they get a bit older.

SLR's F - Broken black tort buck, DOB Sept 11/18 out of Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) and SLR's Torlee(black and orange harlequin). This guy I'm on the fence about selling right now as it may be the last litter from Oreo but I don't really need a broken tort buck for the tri program and he's not quite what I want quality wise. Decent type at this point but could use some more fullness to the loins/hindquarter and overall mass. Will probably mature around the 3 pound mark so will be a small dude. Out of the tri program and could possibly carry tri but I can't guarantee either way. $60 for pet or $70 for brood.

SLR's F - Black tort buck DOB Sept 25/18 out of Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) and SLR's Honeybee(black and orange harlequin). We're trying to breed out the otter gene some of our tris are carrying so are getting some selfs in our tris by using a black. This little dude is one of them. Quality wise is looking like a pet at this point but will update that if it changes. $60 for pet

If you are interested in either one of these bunnies then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com (remove spaces).

This is a photo of our registered border collie stock dog Rain. This is the weekend we picked her up(8 years ago now). She's not only good with the cows but takes good care of the bunnies too!
