An updated list of whats available

These are some of the last bunnies that we will have available this year minus a couple litters that get weaned at the end of September. Those litters have broken torts, black bucks, an orange buck, black & orange harlequins and a tort? doe in them however I'm not sure on the qualities at this point.
Here's whats available now and we do have transport heading south from here to Calgary in mid September.

* SOLD * SLR's F91 Out of SLR's Fergus and SLR's Honeybee we kept this little dude back as a possible brood buck however he's an otter carrier so he's available to a new home. Born Jan 29/19. Decently typed buck but is missing overall width of body so he would be great with some wide brood does. Will produce tris and otters depending on what he's bred too. Shyer buck in the cage but pretty easy to handle once he's out. Pet or brood home - $80 for brood with pedigree or $30 for pet with no pedigree

SLR's F105 Black and Orange harlequin doe out of SLR's Huckleberry Finn and SLR's Blake. Another one we held back as a possible breeding doe but are keeping two siblings so this gal is available. Sweet doe that's pretty easy to work with. Born May 9/19 Pet or Brood $60 for pet or $80 for brood

* SOLD * SLR's F102 A black buck born May 9/19 out of SLR's Huckleberry Finn and SLR's Blake. Sweet boy looking for a pet only home.

SLR's F93 A black tort doe out of GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and an outcross doe from BC. This doe is a full sibling to SLR's Billy The Kidd and another doe who took two BOSB wins her first time out as a junior doe. A good overall litter but you cant keep them all. This doe is bred for her first litter but will be available once they are weaned(End of Oct). Born March 11/19 and is a brood quality doe.

* ON HOLD * SLR's F89 A broken tort buck out of GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and GC SLR's Summer Breeze. A nice buck that I probably should keep but again you can't keep them all so here he is. Show quality with one junior leg.

* SOLD * SLR's F109 A lightly marked torted black and orange harlequin buck. Born May 9/19 out of GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and SLR's Maisie. He's a bit of a bigger guy so is looking for a pet home. $60 as pet

* SOLD * SLR's Lonesome Dove a black and orange harlequin doe that goes back to GC SLR's Tritan(#9 Top Lop in 2010) Love this doe!

We’ll have some babies that will be weaned from their mommas and looking for new homes shortly. These guys were born on May 8, 9 & 11 2019 and we’ll post some photos once we have some and more information on them hopefully this weekend. Our camera had an unfortunate fall though so depending if I can get it to work, the photos may be our normal ones or some sub par iPhone ones. Here’s a list of what should be available at this point.

Out of Registered SLR’s Wyatt Earp(black/orange tri color) and GC(pending registration) BIS SLR’s Annie Oakley.
  1. * SOLD * Broken fox buck looking pretty promising at this point but an unshowable color. Genetically would carry otter and self with the possibility of harlequin although that should be unlikely. “Show” or brood quality at this point $60 as a pet, $120 as brood

  2. * SOLD * Tort buck that’s looking like he’ll make a good pet, has some good parts that he could add to a herd but better suited as a pet. $60 as pet

  3.  * SOLD * Black and orange harlequin buck who is also looking to be a nice pet. Some more promising parts but could use improvement as a brood buck. $60 as pet

Out of SLR’s Huckleberry Finn(black and orange harlequin) x SLR’s Blake(black)
  1. * SOLD * SLR's F106 Black and orange harlequin doe. Brood or pet

  2. SLR's F104 Lightly marked black and orange harlequin doe. Brood or pet LOCATED BY RED DEER AB

GC(pending registration) SLR’s Sundance Kidd (tort) x SLR’s Maisie(torted black and orange harlequin)
  1. * SOLD * Lightly marked black and orange harlequin buck. Will be a bigger dude probably around that 4-4.5 pound mark. Good hind quarter and nice ear/crown. Longer overall so listing as a pet

  2. * SOLD * Lightly marked black and orange harlequin buck. Very similar to brother above, pet as well. $60 as pet

SLR’s Huckleberry Finn(black and orange harlequin) x SLR’s Lonesome Dove (black and orange harlequin).

  1. * SOLD *SLR's F111 black and orange harlequin buck. Tiny little dude who is just missing the massiveness that the breed calls for. This tiny peanut would make a great pet. Love his laid back attitude. $60 as pet

That’s all for now but if one of these bunnies strikes your fancy then feel free to send me an email at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com(remove spaces).

Meet SLR's Billy The Kid

We thought it's about time to introduce this little dude, SLR's Billy The Kid. He's a junior tort buck from GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and already has an impressive show record with 7 legs for the two weekends that he's been shown. He's got great early maturity and is just such a nicely balanced buck.

A BOB win!

We were lucky enough to have my folks come up and visit for a week during calving season so I took the opportunity to send a few bunnies back down with Mom for her to show at the SARBA Chestermere show. We sent a little 2.5 month old buck down, SLR's Billy the Kidd and he took home a BOB win on Saturday. He's got promise but he needs to grow up too!

We have also had lots of sales inquires lately and we do have some good news, we'll have some bunnies available in the next few weeks! Please note that I breed for myself with the goal to produce a rabbit that is as close to the SOP as possible, I do not breed to fill a sales list and do not keep waiting lists as I can not guarantee when or if I'll have anything available. The best bet is to just check in with me every so often to see what's coming up in the next bit. The ones we have in the boxes right now are starting to hit that ugly stage but we'll go through them and see who we'll post for sale in the next few weeks. We are planning to head to the K-Days show in Edmonton at the end of July and can bring bunnies that are sold and paid for ahead of time, down to meet for pick up at the show.

We'll most likely have a broken tort buck that is turning a SR on July 29th. I kept him back as he was promising enough to grow out however at this point he has more overall length then I like to see. He's been shown and I may show him at K-Days but we'll give him until the entry deadline to decide for sure if he stays or goes. He is out of a tri doe so I can not guarantee that he does not carry the tri gene however I have not seen any sign of it.

We will also have a broken fox buck available regardless of type, this dude could be a BIS winner and we'll still part with him as he is not a color we work with. He's out of Reg. SLR's Wyatt Earp a tri buck with one leg and BIS GC(pending) SLR's Annie Oakley. This is a great opportunity for those who expressed interest in purchasing an Annie kit. He is a broken fox which is an unshowable color but he would work well in an otter program.

We are also on black and orange harlequin over load at the moment with 10 in the boxes of both does and bucks. The majority of these will be available too, some agouti based carrying self, some self based and possibly some otter based.

Look for these guys to be posted when they are around that eight week mark so in about a month. Send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com if there's one that interests you.

A couple available bunnies

We're down to the last ~50 stranglers for calving so there is an end in sight! We've been playing with some juniors in the mean time and have decided to part with a couple. Both are siblings out of GC(pending registration) SLR's Sundance Kidd and a Knolands doe from the states born on March 15/19.

* SOLD * SLR's F96 broken tort buck, this dude didn't wean very well and lost quite a bit of condition in the process but he's back up on his feet and ready to go now. He'll be a smaller boy and has more overall length and narrowness then I would like to see for either a show or brood buck so we're looking for a pet home for this dude. Relaxed, sweet and friendly guy. $60 as a pet with no pedigree.

*SOLD* SLR's F95 broken tort doe. She's a pretty doe who would make a great pet or brood doe. She's got a good solid body and a pretty head coming in. Does have length in the shoulder and may be around the 4 pound mark once fully grown. $60 as a pet or $100 as brood.

It's THAT time again!

We re full swing into calving season here on the ranch so we usually take a break from most e-mails(minus emergencies) until we have things back under control here. I apologize ahead of time for the delay in response time from us!

We have went through the barn with a fine tooth comb and are making some senior animals available to head to new homes shortly. We'll post those ones in a week or two - color wise there should be a tri, broken black, tort, broken tort and a harlequin.

We've also had a few new litters born here.

GC(Pending registration) SLR's Annie Oakley had five babies sired by SLR's Wyatt Earp on May 9th. One broken tort, one solid tort, one blk/org tri and two harlequins.

SLR's Huckleberry Finn x SLR's Blake had six kits also on May 9th, one chestnut, one black, and the rest are harlequins.

SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's Maisie had four kits also on the 9th, one peanut, one tort and two harlequins.

SLR's Huckleberry Finn x SLR's Lonesome Dove had three kits on May 11, one DOA, one peanut and one harlequin.

Available bunnies

Here's a list of available bunnies we have right now. Please be patient when e-mailing us as we are currently calving so are spending a lot of time out in the field.

* SOLD * SLR's Black otter buck, out of SLR's Fergus(Blk/org harli) and SLR's Blake(Black) Born mid January 2019. Looking to be a promising buck for show or breeding but is a laid back guy to make a pet too. If putting this dude into a breeding program please keep in mind that he is out of a harlequin buck so could carry the harlequin gene and the only way to know for sure would be to test breed him. Should mature around the 4 lb mark. $60 for pet or $90 for brood/show

* SOLD * SLR's Black and orange harlequin buck. Sibling to the buck above but this little dude is the tiny one of the bunch. These two were fostered and raised by a different mom and this guy just didn't get as much milk as he should of from the start. Growing and is healthy but he's going to be too little to compete show wise plus he is a harlequin. Should mature around the 3lb mark and needs crown development(his ears are above horizontal right now and I'm not sure if they will fully lop when he is full grown). Is available to a pet home for $60.

* SOLD * SLR's Brynn is looking for a pet home. She's a broken tort doe who is a sweet heart and has one of the best bodies in the barn paired with a decent head but a wonky crown so her ears are above horizontal. We've tried to breed her a few times now and she's just not cut out to be a brood doe so is looking for a great pet home. On the shyer side but is sweet and loves her pets. $30 for pet only. The above photos of her are her junior photos.

* SOLD * SLR's Fergus a black and orange harlequin buck born in Dec 2017(he's just over a year old) out of Registered SLR's Oreo(brk blk) and SLR's Lonesome dove(blk/org harli). Fergus is an ataB-C-D-ej(e?) harli buck that we held back as he has beautiful bright pretty clean orange so were hoping he might be an agouti based harli however he is not. He's available to a pet or breeding home. This is a buck to add color to your program but not type. He has a poor crown so his ears are above vertical, he is a decently short buck but has a lower slightly longer shoulder and could use more overall fullness and width. Decent hindquarter, could use better bone being a senior buck. $40 for a pet or $60 for brood

*No Photos currently available*
 * SOLD * SLR's Tort buck born in September 2018 out of Reg. SLR's Oreo(brk blk) and SLR's Torlee(blk/org harli). This guy would be a good addition to someone's program as a breeding buck however he may "carry" the harli gene(he might have a bit of black that actually makes him a torted harlequin instead of a tort, that isn't really visible to the eye) so would do best in a tri/harlequin program. He has a good shoulder, could use more fullness to his midsection and hindquarter, is a fairly short buck, could use better bone, decent head for a younger buck and a poor crown(ears are above vertical). I debated keeping this guy back to use in the tri program however I don't want to keep back a tort buck that is only used in our tri program as we have better tort bucks. $40 for pet or $70 for brood.

We are located close to Grande Prairie Alberta Canada. Transport down from Grande Prairie to Calgary along highway 43 and highway 2 is available in May 2019.

Send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com (remove spaces) If anyone here interests you.
Please note that we are calving here on the ranch and our response time significantly slows down during this time.
