New Babies!

We've been gone down south to purchase some new bulls for the farm so have been away from our e-mail for the last few days. If you've sent an e-mail don't worry I have received it but have not had the chance to reply yet - hopefully by the end of the day!

While we were gone we had some does kindle under the watchful eye of my mother-in-law, we had a total of 25 babies born with 16 live ones. That's not too bad considering that 4 out of the 6 does due were first time moms. Here is who had what!

SLR's DJ x Cutie Patootie T'fer Tigger had 5 healthy live kits, there looks to be 2 black/orange tris, 1 black/orange harlequin, and 2 oranges or tort otters.

SLR's Aiden x SLR's Saffir had 5 kits total, all of which were born dead.

SLR's Aiden x SLR's Jersey had 4 kits, 3 black/orange harlequins and 1 pink peanut.

SLR's Thumper x SLR's AnnaPrimRose had 2 kits total, one black/orange harlequin and one black that was born dead. Her one harli has been fostered to Olivias = )

Campo's Fire N Ice x SLR's Macey had 5 total, 2 of which were born dead and she has 1 broken orange, 1 broken black otter and 1 black/orange tri color.

Campo's Fire N Ice x SLR's Olivia had 5 total, 2 of which were born dead and she has 1 broken orange, 1 broken black otter and 1 black otter. She also has Anna's one harli kit.

These guys won't be available for at least 8 weeks and we'll offer the promising one's for show/breeders before they will be available as pets. We also won't know how they are developing until they are older so I'm not sure how many of these little tykes will be available. Keep an eye on the blog for updates on them as they will be posted here when we know who's going and who's staying!

Wetaskiwin

We returned from the Wetaskiwin show this weekend and had a fantastic time! Hats off to the EARS club for hosting a great show and a big thanks to both the judges for all their helpful comments and kind words. Their were some great rabbits there and it was good to be able to put some faces to the new names. Not that we are biased about Hollands or anything but want to send a big congrats out to Karleigh Friesen who took two BIS and one RIS with a beautiful little doe bred by Kathy Pelton.

We picked up a new tri buck named Campo's Fire N' Ice and he's already been busy at home. We spent today and bred a few does:
SLR's Aiden x SLR's Saffir
SLR's Thumper x SLR's AnnaPrimRose
SLR's Aiden x SLR's Agape
SLR's DJ x Cutie Patootie T'fer Tigger
SLR's Tort x SLR's Kendall
Campo's Fire N' Ice x SLR's Macey

A big thanks goes out to Stephen for regisitering our little Agape last minute on Sunday!
We'll post some photos of our new kid and some updated photos of Anna when I get a chance, until then Happy Family Day!

Here are some updated photos of the inside of the new bunny barn, we are SO happy with it and are excited to get the bunnies moved in!

The Barn

So this project has taken us WAY longer then we ever thought that it would and it's not quite done yet but it's getting really close! All we have left is to put up chain link around it, lay some lino down on the inside, finish the electrical and pull it outside! Here's some photos of what it looks like at the moment.

Happy New Years!

We've had a chance to go on a small holiday the last few days but are back into work starting on Saturday! We've been busy trying to finish the inside of the new barn and it's mostly done - I'll post some new photos within the next few days here once we get back home! We are super excited to get the bunnies all moved into their new place!

We also palpated our two does that we bred and one is pregnant - Tigger who was bred to our favorite harli buck Aiden. Anna didn't take which isn't super surprising as she was not very excited to be bred! We'll try again here in a week or so.

Happy New Years to all from all of us!

Expecting Moms!

We've bred two of our gals for litters this last week so they will be due Jan 8th and 13th if they did catch! We're going to breed a couple more does with the next week or so but have been trying to hold off breeding till we get everyone settled into the new bunny barn. Speaking of which - we've been painting! The insides walls and roof are just about all painted and we picked up some sheeting to put on top of the planks for the floor. I think we'll put a piece of lino down on top of that as I LOVE having things are clean, neat and organized - anything that makes that easier is a good way to go!

Anyways here's the two crossings that we did!

SLR's Thumper Black Sr buck- 2 GC legs x
SLR's Anna Prim Rose - 1 GC leg - Tort SR Doe, this is of course her junior photo! I hadn't realized that I don't have a SR photo of her yet.

Cutie Patootie's T'fer Tigger Black/orange harlequin SR Doe

A Beautiful Black Doe

This is the sibling to the little harli that we posted awhile back. She's now regrown her fur on her face and looks like a darling doe again! She does have a SUPER thick coat especially around her bum that makes her look a little bit funny but everyone has a bad hair day now and then right? She's an adorable little gal looking for the perfect name! Plus we plan to bring her along to the Wetaskiwin show in Feb to see how she does! She's still a junior now but I think she'll be a senior by then - I'll have to count the days! She is a beautifully put together doe with a nice head/ear piece and is WIDE - this will be a repeat breeding as I wouldn't mind having a barn full of bunnies that looked exactly like her = )

Anyways here is our beautiful doe - any suggestions on a name then let me know!

The New Barn

Here are a few photos of the work on the new bunny barn! It's 32 x 12 feet with an inside part and outside runs for them as well. Everything is on a skid so we can move the barn around the farm as needed. We picked up some sky light tin, the door and a window this week that we need to build the final wall and have been working today to cut all the tin and get it put on so we can start using the new barn before Christmas. It'll be an early Christmas present to the bunnies!
