Meet Registered SLR's Starburst

This guy is getting up there in age but has new photos anyways. The first two are the new ones and the third is this guy as a older junior. He's got a good black to orange ratio however his orange is light and getting lighter the older he gets. In this way he could be called a black fawn tri which is not an accepted color combination. He's always had a great head piece on him and has been shown earning two legs one for BOS at eight weeks old. Not bad for a tri eh?

I'll try and take some photos of some torts here as I feel they've got a bit of a backseat in the last bit. I love the tris but a gorgeous tort isn't all too shabby either! We've still got the black orange harlequin buck pictured a little bit ago available but all others have been sold. Should be some more juniors coming soon!

Here's Starburst.

New babies!

We're happy to announce that SLR's Kaylee a tri doe posted a few days ago has two chubby happy kits in the box out of GC SLR's Tritan. These guys are sure to be stocky and nice! They were born two days ago now and are settling into the new world just fine! Photos to follow after Christmas.

Another cute little tri doe!

This is the third doe in the litter out of SLR's Buster and GC SLR's Moxie. This turned out to be a very good cross so far! Moxie is lighter in bone and Buster makes up for that but is a bit of a lower topline & headmount which Moxie makes up for, we'll have to see what these guys look like full grown.

This little gal was sadly over cleaned by her mom at birth so is missing both ears but does quite well and can certainaly be used as a brood doe. She is deeper in orange color than her sister but I would say that she still is a little bit torted especially on her nose. She's a nice upright doe with her daddys smooth body. So here she is!

Meet SLR's Buster

We're going to switch it up today and post one of our SR tri bucks SLR's Buster instead of another daughter of his.

Buster's been here quite awhile and by looking at his photos you'll see why! He's a super laid back buck with the best personality and has good looks to boot. He's probably one of the smoothest bucks I have ever laid my hands on and has a great big head to match. His faults are that he's just a little too big overall tipping the 4 lb mark carries a bit of length and my biggest little pet peeve - a slipped crown & folded ears! I do tend to be quite picky especially about the boys here but Buster has earned a spot on the brood bucks team. This is the sire to the two tri does and one harli doe recently pictured so we figured it was time for an introduction. He's been throwing some very promising babies for us here!

A cute little tri

These photos are a little more clear than her previous introduction photos however she has a bald face now! So I took some new shots anyways but you'll have to excuse the head for now. This is an un-named torted tri doe out of SLR's Buster(Full sibling to Kaylee pictured below) and GC SLR's Moxie. SLR's Bumble is her sister and the third sister will be posted tomorrow.

Minus being in the uglies, she's got a great body and a promising head/crown piece. She is torted but we may have a show debut for her at the Wetaskiwin show in Feb. She'll quickly join the brood ranks here to produce some tris that look and feel like her type wise but have clean color!

Meet SLR's Kaylee

I took some new photos of this gal even though she's an older brood doe because she's just gorgeous. Keep in mind that she's a doe with a bucks head, ear crown piece and is almost as wide as she is long. She is a little chubby and flabby as she is an older doe but still has a showy presence and the sweetest attitude.

Kaylee is out of Reg. SLR's Starburt and SLR's Samara, full sibling to the blue fawn harlequin buck pictured in a previous for sale post. She is an exampe of a clean colored tri. I'll try to put some comparision photos between torted and clean tris to help those in need of some clarification.

Anyways here's the beginning of some new photos this week, meet SLR's Kaylee.

Meet SLR's Bumble

So I wanted to share atleast one photo before Monday rolls around! I took pictures of the harli and tri doe out of SLR's Buster and GC SLR's Moxie.
Meet SLR's Bumble, she's a tiny torted harli doe who is a doll and pretty darn cute to boot. She will stick around to join the brood doe ranks here to hopefully produce some nice tris for us in the future. Where there's a little more time to write I'll explain how the tort to harli or tri breedings go here. We love the type AND the color which is why we use torts however torted tri are a DQ and should be DQ'd for being four colors. Anyways I'll dive into the subject more later this week! Here's Bumble!

Calgary!

Robin and I just arrived in Calgary and the first place we ventured to was to the barn to check out the new babies! There is one gorgeous torted tri doe and a harli doe out of Buster and Moxie! Along with two cute little harlis, a tri and two broken chestnuts out of Athena and Chamber. I'll try and take some photos and post the little cuties starting Monday.

There will be one nicely marked tri doe out of Buster and Moxie that has no ears available shorlty after Christmas, we'll hang on to her two sisters for now to see how they turn out!

Anyways time for bed after the long drive.

Photo's

For those who don't know, I work as a registered animal health technologist in a small rural practice which I love doing. As a happy note, calving season has started today and we pulled our first live calf of the season! That's always a good way to start off.

Looking at this blog on a different computer I realized that it stretches the photos out sideways making the bunnies look really loooong in body on some computers. So if the photos look like this then it's not the bunnies nor the photos themselves yet the computer in which you are on.

Have a happy and warm day!

Meet GC SLR's Moxie

This is Moxie and she is the sweetest little gal ever. She's placed multiple BOB, BOS etc and has even taken the honors of best of the best opposites. She's got some cute little tri's in the box right now out of SLR's Buster that should be hitting the tables soon. She is a favourite here producing animals such as GC SLR's Bailey out of GC SLR's Tritan.

Here's the cute little gal.

New babies have arrived!

We're excited to announce the arrival of some new little ones here! There are a few beautifully marked tris and harlis and a few other tort colors. There were four litters born in the past two days, two litters were DOA except for one baby now fostered to a chesnut doe with five of her own.

This means some of these little cuties will be available in about eight weeks.

Photos will follow when there's a chance to get down to Calgary!

Some of the rabbits bred at SLR - Past & Present

Here's a few of the bunnies that did call or do call SLR home.

GC SLR's Tritan, out of one of my favorite bucks and GC SLR's Randall. Currently the number 6th Top Lop in the HLRSC.
Reg. SLR's Sebastian. He goes back to an all time favourite buck GC SLR's Max, a RIS winning buck under jusge Allan Ormond back in 2004. Almost all of our does here that are lookers go back to Max.
SLR's Chambler our current tri herd buck with gorgeous color. He does need a slightly higher head mount but is making some very nice babies.
SLR's OJ a lightly marked harli doe who's a brood doe here and has some cute tri babies.

This bunny is out of two beautiful animals, GC Mt. View's Thor and GC SLR's Sakari our first GC tri color. We don't use magpies in our program so this gal is living as a pet near Grande Prairie Ab.
This is one of two sibling tort does out of GC SLR's Tritan. One doe is living in Dawson BC and the other near Hythe Ab.
A very cute little harli doe who is living as a pet in Calgary.

Those are some of the photos of what we have or have had in the past. The photos are very limited as a lot of them were lost in the website transition.
That's all for today but will post a cute little blue/fawn harli buck for sale tomorrow.

About us & our history

We have been breeding and showing Holland Lops since 2000 and have had the tri color variety since 2003. Almost all of the tort stock we use and keep is granded proving their worth on the show tables before they're put into production. Our tri progam rabbits have achieved BOV, BOSV, BOB, BOSB and RIS wins and in our tort program all of the above plus the honor of BIS. We pride ourselves in having beautiful show animals with great personalities that are a joy to handle. All of the rabbits that we show on the tables have been bred right here at SLR.

Although we're certainaly not new to the show and breeding world, our membership with the HLRSC is. We've currently got the number 6th Top Lop GC SLR's Tritan who we are quite honored to have! We sit in most of the top standings within the sweepstakes and will post the final results at the end of the year.

Meet the folks who run SLR. . .

My name is Shannon Moore and I work as an Registered Animal Health Technologist for fun and have a special passion for both horses and rabbits. I'm engaged to a wonderful guy named Robin Fletcher who lives up near Beaverlodge Ab. My parents are Sylvia and Bill Moore and they both do a wonderful job of caring for the rabbits down in Calgary. I'll come down and do the breedings, mark them down and mom will look after the baby part as dad is doing the chores and cleaning.  This is the reason why we have our one program in two locations as both mom and I have developed a strong passion for these cute little bunnies.

Aside from the fun of showing are the friends we have made along the way. Although the names are a little too numerous to count we adore and love all of the dear friends that we share our bunny lives with!

Well that's a bit of our brag book, a small look in on how & who runs SLR and a little about our program. I'll hopefully get to posting more of who's here especially some of the cute little tri babies who are eye catchers even at such a young age! Stay tuned to find out more of what's going on, we'll try and post atleast a few times a week!

New way to keep in touch!

Good evening!
Since the website idea has not been working out too well for me I've decided to start a blog to keep everyone updated with what's happening at SLR! There's a dwendling few animals left for sale before winter really hits and some cute little tris in the box out of SLR's Buster and GC SLR's Moxie. Here's some for sale guys now.

This is an 8 month old black/orange harli brood buck that is available. He's $40 to a pet home or $50 to a brood home. I believe he has the correct genotype to produce correctly colored tris, ie no torting gene at all however haven't bred him yet to figure that one out!

SLR's Hazer, DOB Jan 28 2010 brokwn tort buck out of GC SLR's Tritan(currently number 6th Top Lop) and GC SLR's Moxie. $40 as a pet or $60 to a brood/show home.

SLR's Unnamed broken tort doe, DOB Jan 28 2010. Out of GC SLR's Tritan and GC SLR's Moxie. $40 to a pet home or $100 to a show/brood home. - I'm hanging on to this gal just a little while longer as her sister that I've held on to hasn't had a live litter yet so will see if I can get one out of her. This gal's sister is GC SLR's Bailey who granded in one show! Nice litter.

There will be some more posted soon but need to find my way around this site first!
Keep warm,
Shannon
