Two available bunnies

We're posting a couple bunnies that will be available to head to new homes once they are weaned at 8 weeks old. We are planning to head to the Farm Fair show in Edmonton AB November 9-11th and can bring them down to meet at the show for no additional charge. We'll get some photos of these guys once they get a bit older.

SLR's F - Broken black tort buck, DOB Sept 11/18 out of Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) and SLR's Torlee(black and orange harlequin). This guy I'm on the fence about selling right now as it may be the last litter from Oreo but I don't really need a broken tort buck for the tri program and he's not quite what I want quality wise. Decent type at this point but could use some more fullness to the loins/hindquarter and overall mass. Will probably mature around the 3 pound mark so will be a small dude. Out of the tri program and could possibly carry tri but I can't guarantee either way. $60 for pet or $70 for brood.

SLR's F - Black tort buck DOB Sept 25/18 out of Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) and SLR's Honeybee(black and orange harlequin). We're trying to breed out the otter gene some of our tris are carrying so are getting some selfs in our tris by using a black. This little dude is one of them. Quality wise is looking like a pet at this point but will update that if it changes. $60 for pet

If you are interested in either one of these bunnies then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com (remove spaces).

This is a photo of our registered border collie stock dog Rain. This is the weekend we picked her up(8 years ago now). She's not only good with the cows but takes good care of the bunnies too!

Happy Fall/Winter!

Just wanted to post an update as we've been pretty quiet this summer and the reason why is that we've added a new little gal to our family! She's been a good baby for the most part but they sure still are work. We have managed, with God's grace, to get all our crop off this year as we put everything into silage and left nothing to combine which was the right thing to do with all the rain and snow we've had this fall. The cattle are still out on grass so things are quiet that way around home. We've had a few litters over the summer here and currently have two new litters and some juniors that are still available from the spring litters. Some of these weren't/aren't posted for sale as they were out of an new buck that we added in the late winter from the states and I wanted to hold back some of his juniors to see how they developed. It's a great opportunity for local folks to get some "outside" genetics. Contact me to see what's currently available. starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com (remove spaces).

The two new litters are:

Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) x SLR's Torlee(torted black and orange harlequin) Kindled on Sept 11 and has one broken tort buck and one tort doe. This is a repeat breeding as the last time I crossed these two the does that were produced were really nice!

Registered SLR's Oreo(broken black) x SLR's Honeybee(black and orange harlequin who carries otter) Kindled on Sept 25 and had two broken blacks, one tort and one black and orange tri. These guys are too young to sex at the moment so we'll know who's who later.

We've already had six inches of snow this fall plus a lot of rain(there was 2 inches in the rain gage the one time it was emptied) and the weather has been hovering around -5 - 5 degrees so it really feels like we skipped fall and this is in fact winter!

Available Bunnies

UPDATED May 28/18
We have some little ones that are looking for their new homes! They are just about ten weeks old now so are ready to go anytime. All our bunnies come tattooed, nails clipped, dewormed, with a bag of transition feed and a couple sheets of information. If you are interested in one of these little ones then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com

* SOLD * SLR's F71 Black and orange harlequin buck out of Registered SLR's Wyatt Earp and SLR's Black doe. Cute typey little buck that could go as a pet or as brood. Balanced boy with a nice laid back temperament. $60 for pet and $100 for brood.

* SOLD * SLR's F72 - A broken black buck out of Registered SLR's Wyatt Earp and SLR's black doe. Cute buck with potential but needs time to grow up. Good bone and thickness on this guy. $60 for pet or $80 for brood.

* SOLD * SLR's F70 - A black and orange harlequin doe out of SLR's Huckleberry Finn and SLR's Lonsome Dove. She's a cute gal with a laid back personality. She could use more fullness to the hindquarter and is pinched to be a breeding doe so we're posting this cutie as a pet $60.

* SOLD * SLR's F75 - Black tort buck out of a buck from the states, Registered Clear Sky's Marley(Black tort) and SLR's HoneyBee(Black/orange harlequin). The guy has some good parts to him but is overall long and light in the bone, should mature around 4 pounds or just shy of. He's available to a pet home for $60 or a brood for $70

* SOLD * SLR's F76 - Lightly marked black and orange harlequin buck out of a buck from the states, Registered Clear Sky's Marley(Black tort) and SLR's HoneyBee(Black/orange harlequin). This is just a little dude and I expect him to mature around the 3lb mark when he's done growing. He is a lightly marked harli with most being on his back right foot. Possibly otter carrier. He's lacking the massiveness that the breed calls for so he's looking for a pet home for $60.

Happy Spring!?

We are full swing into calving here at the ranch which just happens to be our busiest time! During the next month we'll be very slow to answer any e-mail or messanger inquiries so please be patient. We are officially sold out at the moment and will be until at least May 8th at which point we'll post any available stock right here on the blog. Until then, enjoy the hopefully warmer weather!

For sale juniors

We’ve went through our litters and made some decisions on who gets to go and who we’ll be holding back as possible replacements. Our herd size is pretty small at the moment as we’ve really been hard on keeping back quality animals that we feel will help advance the breed in type, temperament, health and color.

Below is a litter listed from Registered SLR’s Wyatt Earp(blk/org tri) x SLR’s Honeybee(blk/org harlequin) DOB Jan 16/18 – This litter will be weaned and ready to go to new homes on Mar 13/18.

* SOLD * SLR’s F63 – Fox buck - $60 for pet or $80 for brood.

* SOLD * SLR’s F64 – Fox doe - $60 for pet or $80 for brood.

* SOLD * SLR’s F65 – Blk/org harli buck - $60 for pet This guy just doesn’t compete type wise with the other junior harli buck that we are keeping back at the moment.

* SOLD * SLR’s F66 – Broken fox buck - $60 for pet

* SOLD * SLR’s F67 – Blk tort doe - $60 for pet or $80 for brood

* SOLD * Out of SLR’s Fox(fox) and Registered SLR’s Fly Girl(blk/org tri) DOB Jan 16/18 is SLR’s F62 who I’m suspecting is a broken fox doe. She has too much white on her ears for show or breeding so she’s listed at $60 for pet - This gal was NOT into her photos today so we let her be the relaxed gal that she is.

* SOLD * Also out of SLR’s Fox(fox) and Registered SLR’s Fly Girl(blk/org tri) DOB Jan 16/18 is SLR’s F61 a black and orange tri doe. This gal has a beautiful shoulder and head on her. $100 for show or $60 for pet

* SOLD * Out of Registered SLR's Oreo and SLR's AnnaPrimRose is SLR's F68 a absolutely beautiful broken tort doe. This girl is round, short and has a head ear crown on her like a buck. I'm a little concerned that she'll mature a bit small for breeding so we're parting with her as a show or pet doe. $120 for show or $60 for pet.

* SOLD * Out of Registered SLR's Oreo and SLR's AnnaPrimRose is SLR's F69 a broken black buck. This guy should be a good brood and possible show buck but would also make a good pet due to his outgoing personality. He needs some time to develop but is looking like a nice little show buck at this time. A little long in overall body but generally nice type. We're being tough on who we hold back at the moment so this dude is available. $100 for show or $60 for pet.

We also have a couple new litters here born on Mar 8th/18

SLR’s Huckleberry Finn(blk/org harli) x SLR’s Lonesome dove(blk/org harli), had 2 babies, 1 peanut and 1 blk/org harli with lot’s of blk on the face.

Registered SLR’s Wyatt Earp(blk/org tri) x SLR’s F57(blk) had 6 total with 3 DOA(2 blk/org tris and one blk) and has 1 broken black, 1 broken blk otter And 1 blk/org harli with a mostly orange face. These three have been fostered to Dove as we would like to rebreed this gal and Dove is such a wonderful mama!

We’ll have more litters due at the end of the month and then that’ll probably be all until fall as this spring may be a bit busy so we’ve been busy breeding the girls earlier then we normally would!

New kits born!

We've had a few new litters born this last week as the girls are off of their break so everyone was bred. We should have four more litters expected in the next couple weeks as well. The broken fox and the black otter out of Dove December litter are both spoken for at the moment. I think we'll be holding back the black/orange harlequin buck as a replacement sire but it depends how his type develops. We have nothing currently available at the moment and won't until these new litters are weaned and ready to go(8 more weeks from today!).

SLR's Wyatt Earp x SLR's Honey had a litter of five. There looks to be one black/orange harli buck, one tort doe, one broken fox buck & two solid fox does. All the foxes will be available as it's another color program that we just don't have room to keep in the barn.

SLR's Fox x Reg. SLR's Fly Girl had a litter of five with two peanuts, one that was born dead and she's got two healthy kits remaining. One black/orange tri doe and one broken tort(possibly a broken fox?) doe - this girl has too much white on her ears so she'll be available to a pet home(it's not a desired trait in show rabbits).

Reg. SLR's Oreo x SLR's AnnaPrimRose had a litter of three with one born dead and two live healthy babies. She's got one broken tort doe and one broken black that looks like a doe as well. This litter will probably be all held back until the babies are at least three months as I am wanting to replace some bunnies in the tort program and these guys have the genetic so far to be great replacements.

We'll update the blog as the new litters come(the next doe is due on Jan 31 and this litter is a test breed to see if one of our bucks is a fox so I'm possibly expecting black otters in this cross). Still nothing from this gal yet but I hadn't confirmed she was in fact pregnant yet either but she is nesting so we'll see! I'll palpate her today sometime. Our next three litters are due on Friday(Feb 9th) these gals I haven't confirmed pregnancy in yet either.

SLR's Wyatt Earp

We'd like to introduce this little buck as our new main tri buck. He's a young senior and just getting his breeding career going at this point but we love the patterns he's thrown on babies so far. He's out of SLR's Huckleberry Finn and Registered SLR's Fly Girl - 1 leg. Here's Wyatts' photos taken today although he is still sporting a chewed coat from his sister!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from our family to yours! We hope that 2018 is filled with all of the good things that you could pray for!

We're SO happy to have a fully insulated and heated barn in this -30- -40 weather that we've been having! All the bunnies are happy and warm inside. We are also officially sold out for the time being but we have bred 8 more does to kindle in January and have one current litter of 3.

Registered SLR's Oreo and SLR's Lonesome Dove has a litter of 3, 1 black and orange harlequin buck, 1 black otter doe and 1 broken tort otter doe. The two does in this litter will be available once they are weaned and ready to go so send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com(remove spaces) if you may be interested in one of these little does. They are only a few weeks old at the moment so we'll have no idea on type for another month or so.
