New Litters

Most of the girls have had a good breeding break over the summer so we'll be breeding quite a few of them over the next bit. We're still trying to get back to genetically correct tri colors and breed out the otter gene that is in them so we can stop producing so many foxes and improve the orange color. It's been a couple years already but I think we are almost there if we can just roll the dice right and end up with some tris now! We'll part with some brood does after we get some litters on the ground so should have some does available in January or so.

We have a couple cute litters right now that are just over a month old.

Grand Champion Registered SLR's Sundance Kidd x VIB2 has three tort does in the box. We were hoping for a nice tort doe from this cross to replace the dam with. This is a repeat cross as it produced Grand Champion Registered SLR's Billy The Kidd who had 9 legs by about 7 months of age.

Grand Champion Registered LLL James x Grand Champion Registered SLR's Annie Oakley has a broken tort doe and a black doe in the box. Annie's our little 5 times Best In Show Winner and 2 times Reserve In Show winner and we were hoping for a broken tort out of this cross so we can have some brokens on the table. Outcross so we'll see how this gamble paid off in a few months.

That's pretty much all that's new for now, just getting the bunnies ready to be moved into the heated barn for the winter. The cages are almost all pressure washed, barns clean, bunnies are dewormed so we're just waiting for the temps to drop so they have to be inside as they seem so happy outside. That's our update for now, hope all is well with everyone!

The last available bunnies for awhile!

We took some photos tonight of the three bunnies that we have weaned and are offering for sale. There's a few more litters coming up here but this might be all we have until next spring since this year has been so busy and we have some major projects lined up for summer/fall. We're almost done calving and have had a wonderful season despite working on a skeleton crew.

Here's the bunnies available, all are being offered as pet although the one harlequin buck could be a brood buck too.

* SOLD * SLR's F133 Black tort doe out of Grand Champion Clear Sky's Marley and Knoland's BMG2 $60 as pet DOB April 16/2020

* SOLD * SLR's F134 Torted black and orange harlequin buck out of SLR's F88 and SLR's Honeybee $60 as pet DOB April 20/2020

SLR's F135 Torted black and orange harlequin buck out of SLR's F88 and SLR's Honeybee $60 as pet April 20/2020 This dude is a busy guy and would work well in an active home that has some previous bunny experience.

An update here

Please keep in mind that we are calving cows at the moment so my reply time to inquiries may be quite delayed(a day or more).

Some folks are asking why there is such a price difference between a pet and brood or show stock. Long answer short, we want to make the animals going to pet homes available at a reasonable cost so that even pet owners can have animals that are healthy, tattooed, dewormed, etc so we greatly discount the price that we ask for those heading to be a pet. Generally speaking young pets go for $60, brood quality starts at $80 & goes up from there and show stuff starts at $100 and goes up from there. We try to invest in quality stock for our breeding program and sell our home raised animals at a huge price reduction compared to what we pay for most animals.

We had some time on this rainy day full of rescheduled plans to do a blog update. We've seen lots of bunnies head to their new homes and only have a few left that mostly have someone interested in them. Thank you to all who have given one of our bunnies a new home.

* SOLD * Out of GC Clear Sky's Marley and SLR's F94(2 legs for BOS) is this little dude who was born on Feb 24 2020. We kept him back as he's looking promising for show but we just don't need another tort buck with 3 GC tort bucks here already. He's still promising and might make a good show buck, he does need some more crown development which will hopefully come with age. These photos are from a little over a month ago now so are outdated. $60 for pet or $120 for show/brood

Out of GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and SLR's F103 also born March 10/2020

* SOLD * SLR's F128 - Black buck Show/brood at this point. He's a very nice upright buck who likes to show himself off. We were thinking of possibly holding this guy back but we're going to keep our senior black buck instead so this guys available to a new home. $60 for pet or $120 for brood.

SLR's F112 Torted lightly marked black and orange harlequin DOB Aug 1/19 Show(if the color was showable)  I really don't mind if this dude stays here as he's developing so nicely. Love this buck and he's probably one of the nicest harlequin based bucks we've let go of. He's got wonderful mass and width especially for being such a young SR. He could use more depth and fullness in the loin area and needs more width to his crown to completely lop those ears. Would be an asset type wise to a tri program. Is torted and is a aaB-C-D-eje $150 for brood or $40 for pet

SLR's F82 DOB Sept 25 2018 a proven broken black brood doe. She's a longer overall doe and needs to be paired with an upright short buck with good mass. Good mom, hasn't been bred in a year. $80 for brood or $40 for pet

* No photo currently available * I thought I had a previous photo of this gal but it's of her sister. She's currently in a molt so will take a new photo once she's got some coat back.

We have two litters right now that will be weaned mid June and some of those babies possibly available. We won't know on these little ones until then though.

Knoland's BMG2's litter is a tort doe and 2 broken tort does
SLR's HoneyBee's litter is 2 black and orange harlequin bucks

More Juniors and for sale bunnies

Please keep in mind that we are right in the middle of calving season so my reply time may be quite delayed.

We did get some photos done of some of the juniors we have here. I'm hoping to post our last litter later today in this blog post as well.

Out of GC Clear Sky's Marley and SLR's Blake born March 10/2020

* SOLD * SLR's F124 - Black buck who didn't get his photos done today, he's looking for a pet home for $60.00

* SOLD * SLR's F125 - Black buck who is looking to be show/brood quality at this moment and is my pick of the litter today.

* SOLD * SLR's F126 - Black buck who is looking to be brood/show quality at this point but all these guys have a lot of growing to do. Can head to a new home since we have so many black bucks and we only have room for one in our program. $60 for pet or $80 for brood

* SOLD * SLR's F127 - Torted lightly marked black and orange harlequin doe. This gal looks like a high rufus tort but genetically has to be a torted harlequin(she'd be an aa-B-C-D-eje). She's looking like a brood doe at this point who we are going to let go as she doesn't have the mass and short bone that we are breeding for. She is a nice upright doe and does have good width of body. Her crown is tight at the moment and her ears don't lop even though her parents both have good crowns, I can not guarantee that her ears will lop with age. $60 for pet or $80 for brood.

* PENDING SALE * Out of GC SLR's Sundance Kidd and SLR's F103 also born March 10/2020
SLR's F128 - Black buck

* SOLD * SLR's F129 - Tort buck who is looking for a new home. We might regret letting this guy go but he is a tort out of a tri program so if we kept him back we'd only use him in our tri program anyways. He might turn out to be a bigger buck(4-5 pound range) but has amazing mass and bone at this point. $60 as a pet or $100 as brood

* SOLD * SLR's F130 - Tort doe, we're going to part with this gal as well. She's a typey little brood doe with really good width of body and a nice natural upright body but she does currently have a tighter crown making those ears not lop yet. They may lop with age but I can not guarantee that they will. She is out of half of our tri program and half of our tort program so does have a tri background although should not carry that ej gene. $80 for brood or $60 for pet

We did have a moment to sex our three other litters in the boxes so here's the results

SLR's F100's litter is a tort doe and 3 broken tort does
Knoland's BMG2's litter is a tort doe and 2 broken tort does
SLR's HoneyBee's litter is 2 black and orange harlequin bucks

We have some older bunnies that are also looking for new homes:

* SOLD * SLR's Huckleberry Finn. I dearly love this guy and he's been around here producing some nice bunnies for awhile. He's looking for a nice retirement home to cuddle up with someone. Finn's baby photos and his senior photos. Loveable guy who's a favorite here.

* SOLD * SLR's F118 Tort buck DOB Aug 25/19 Brood No DQ's but crown needs to develop, ears are above horizontal right now, could be shown but not what I consider "show". Needs to be more upright and needs to fill out but is a young buck. Nice head coming in if you look past his ears.  $100 for brood or $40 for pet

Good mom, hasn't been bred in a year but is currently bred. Inquire if interested and we can chat about the litter. $80 for brood or $40 for pet
* No photo currently available * I thought I had a previous photo of this gal but it's of her sister. She's currently in a molt so will take a new photo once she's got some coat back.

That's it for now, if one of these bunnies strikes your interest then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com (remove spaces). Please keep in mind that my reply time may be delayed.

Juniors

Please bear in mind that we are in the middle of calving season here on the ranch so my reply time to inquiries may be very delayed.

Here's some photos of the litter out of GC Clear Sky's Marley and SLR's F94 - 2 legs. These guys are just tiny yet and I keep thinking the should be older then they are but they were born Feb 24 2020 so just turned 8 weeks on Monday. We thought to share some of them as we got this litter tattooed and partially evaluated today. We're not sure who will be going or staying right now so none of these guys below are being posted for sale at this exact moment. Without further adieu, here's the oldest juniors here minus one tort doe that the kids were busy packing around.

* SOLD * SLR's F120 Tort buck

* SOLD * SLR's F121 Tort buck, no photo available at this moment

* SOLD * SLR's F122 Tort doe

* SOLD * SLR's F123 Tort doe

New Litters

Please keep in mind that we are right in calving season now so my reply time to inquiries may be very delayed.

We've had some new litters born here so here's the update!

GC SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F100(a tri doe out of Wyatt and Annie) had her first litter doing a perfect job. She's got five in the box, 1 torted black/orange harlequin, 3 broken torts and 1 tort on April 16/20

GC Clear Sky's Marley x Knoland's BMG2 had 4 with 1 peanut, 2 broken torts and 1 tort on April 16/20

SLR's F88(a heavily marked black and orange harlequin buck from Wyatt and Annie) x SLR's Honeybee had two black and orange harlequins on April 20/20

We're trying to get our older babies tattooed, their first evaluations, nails trimmed and dewormed today(plus the oldest litter weaned!). If we can do some photos too we might but they are still on the young side for most of them so will likely not post any photos for another couple weeks.

Tis' the season.

We normally try to "shut things down" for the months of April and May as we are also cattle producers and are typically the busiest during calving in these months. This means it may take me a few days to reply to messages and we don't often sell anything during this time. We are also going to create a questionnaire for those who inquire about sale animals that we do not know from previous interactions. This will just make some things more standard and instead of having to play the question game over multiple emails, we'll hopefully streamline this a bit. With that being said too, we breed for show quality animals. Yes we do also produce pets and those are animals that come from a breeding intended to produce show animals but for whatever reason, that specific rabbit doesn't have the qualities that we are looking for confirmation or color wise for a show or breeding program. We hope that most of our animals that we do not keep back to help our program make the breed better, go to homes that will show them and try to help further the breed in a good way.

We did have some litters born and I'll update the sexes below as we did get to having a peak at that. At this current time, all the pet quality ones are spoken for and the others will need to wait until they are at least 8 weeks old to have a first evaluation type wise.

GC SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F101 - 1 tort buck SOLD, 1 tort doe SOLD, 1 fox doe - SOLD, 1 torted black and orange harlequin buck - SOLD.

GC SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F103 - 1 tort buck, 1 tort doe, 1 black buck

GC Clear Sky's Marley x SLR's Blake - 3 black bucks, 1 lightly marked torted black and orange harlequin doe.

GC Clear Sky's Marley x SLR's F94 - 2 tort bucks, 2 tort does

We have five more litters due in the next week so will try to update on who has what once those cuties are born.

New Babies

We've had our first few litters of 2020 and here's the results.

GC Clear Sky's Marley x SLR's F94( 2 legs) has four black torts, two buck and two does that are about a month old now

GC SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F101(harli doe from Wyatt and Annie) has two black torts, one fox and one torted harlequin that are about two weeks old
.

GC Clear Sky's Marley x SLR's Blake has three blacks and a lightly marked torted harlequin who are almost two weeks old.

GC SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's 103(Chestnut doe from Finn and Blake) has a black and two black torts.

The fox and almost all of the blacks will be available since those aren't colors that we work with in our program(we do keep the odd black to test breed our tris too to figure out their genotype).

Today feels like spring!

Today does feel like spring but I won't kid myself yet! We've went through some bunnies and bred a few today too. We'll have these three available right now and possibly some more at a later date. Please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ Hotmail.com (remove spaces) for more information and photos. I managed to drop my camera(okay so the kids pushed it off the dryer) and the lens bent so sometimes it focuses but other times not. So I can send some poor quality phone photos at this moment.

SLR's F118 Tort buck DOB Aug 25/19 Brood No DQ's but crown needs to develop, ears are above horizontal right now, could be shown but not what I consider "show". Needs to be more upright and needs to fill out but is a young buck. Nice head coming in if you look past his ears.  $100

SLR's F112 Torted black and orange harlequin DOB Aug 1/19 Show(if the color was showable) $150 - I really don't mind if this dude stays here as he's developing so nicely. Is torted and is a aaB-C-D-eje

* SOLD * SLR's F119 Tort doe DOB Aug 25/19 Brood no DQ's so could be shown but not what I consider "show" $120 Great width, mass and hindquarter on this doe. Does have a shoulder dip, longer in bone/overall then I like and needs more width to make those ears fully lop. Nice head. She would produce some nice kits if bred to a buck with a strong shoulder and a good crown. Is a bigger girl.
