Herd Reduction

Update Nov 5/21 - We have three rabbits left here that are still available, a torted harlequin buck F112, a harlequin doe F105 and a torted tri pet doe F184(This gal is located in Calgary currently). These guys are quite likely the last of what we will have available until spring. We still do have too many tort bucks but I'm still waiting on them to do a little growing before deciding who can look for a new barn, it's a good group of bucks!

 We're cutting back our numbers again to be able to refocus a bit and have a less work since things on the ranch are always busy. There's some great brood animals here that can be shown however I only label animals as show quality if I expect them to consistently place in the top half of the class. There's no disqualifications on any of these guys so they are showable but what I would call brood quality with some great parts to add into a herd. If you need more information then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com (remove spaces). We have transport heading south to Red Deer then to Calgary this next weekend.

We only managed to go through the entire herd today(that's a big job!) and have some photos of just a few of the ones currently available so will add more hopefully tomorrow.

Final bunnies available for this year

 We are doing a final round of herd reductions for the year as we’ve had a phenomenal year for breedings so need to refocus to continue to produce the best quality animals that we can. Most of these guys are spring juniors that we held back to see how they develop and now we are deciding who gets to stay. This is just the start and we’ll add photos as we can but we are still busy trying to finish getting our cattle feed wrapped up for the year so that’s the priority at the moment.  If you are interested in any bunny please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ hotmail .com (remove the spaces).

We do have transport available from Grande Prairie AB south down highway 43 to Edmonton and then south down highway 2 to Calgary later this month(August/21). You can meet the transport along this route.

* SOLD * SLR’s F148 Minimally marked touted black and orange tri buck DOB Jan 20/21 $120 brood or $40 for pet

Herd Reduction

For whatever reason we currently can not upload our photos but will continue trying to get them posted today.

We've been ever so slowly going through some bunnies as we want to reduce our herd and focus on our two color programs which are black torts and black & orange tri colors. We're parting with animals that are not either of those colors and are parting with some others too that we just are not using. This is a great opportunity that doesn't come up often to get some show and breeding stock for us.

We are located close to Grande Prairie AB however we do have transport heading from Grande Prairie to Calgary on May 31, that we can send bunnies for folks to meet along highway 43 or highway 2 between Edmonton and Calgary. Transport is available for $10/rabbit and all rabbits must be paid for in full before leaving here. We will not hold animals at this point, so the first to pay for an animal is the new owner.

Please keep in mind that we are in the middle of calving right now so things are super busy here, it may take some time for me to reply.

I'll list show/breeding stock first then some of the pet stock that we have available. All photos have been taken today except Marleys which were taken about a month ago.

Please e-mail starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com for inquires, I do not check messages here.

*SOLD* Grand Champion, Registered Clear Sky's Marley. Black tort buck DOB July 12 2017 We brought this guy up from the states and just don't use him anymore since there's so many other grand champion tort bucks around here out of him. Time for him to go help out someone else's herd. Shown just enough to grand him. $250

* SOLD * SLR's Honeybee torted black/orange harlequin DOB March 2 2017 Another gal who should have a few litters in her. Good type on her, torted in color and could have some more black pattern. Wonderful mom who just weaned a litter this week of four in the box, all from different moms. Great foster mom. Is on the shy and skittish side. $100

* SOLD * SLR's F165 - Minimally marked black and orange tri buck DOB Feb 13/21. We held this guy back for awhile to grow him out but are hanging onto two other tri bucks instead. The hair on this guys face is obviously molting at this point. $100

* SOLD * SLR's F135 Torted black/orange harlequin buck DOB April 20 2020 If you are looking at improving your type in a tri program, then this is not the buck for you. He has a decent shoulder and topline but really falls off and is weak in that hindquarter. Lower head mount but decent HEC. Very busy boy and does like to spray. He has a good distribution of black/orange though and I've found this to be quite genetic so would help get some more black on your tris if they are lightly marked. $100

SLR's F112 Torted lightly marked black and orange harlequin DOB Aug 1/19 Show(if the color was showable)  I really don't mind if this dude stays here as he's developing so nicely. Love this buck and he's probably one of the nicest harlequin based bucks we've let go of. He's got good width to balance and has a smooth body. He could use more depth and fullness in the loin area and needs more width to his crown to completely lop those ears. Would be an asset type wise to a tri program. Is torted and is a aaB-C-D-eje $150 for brood

PETS

* SOLD * SLR's F167 Harlequinized chestnut buck DOB March 3/21 - $60
* SOLD * SLR's F168 Black buck DOB March 3/21 - $60
* SOLD * SLR's F170 Broken black buck DOB March 5/21 -$60
* SOLD * SLR's F166 orange doe DOB Feb 13/21 - $60
* SOLD * SLR's F162 Broken Chestnut doe DOB Feb 10/21 - $60

We may have more that we will post but as of today this is all.

Available Seniors

 First off, I apologize for the photos, my camera took a tumble and on occasion doesn't want to work. These are off my phone so I can grab some more/videos if interested. Please keep in mind that we are hitting our busiest time of year here as we approach calving season so it may take a day or two for me to respond to an e-mail.

These are the seniors that we're parting with on this round of reductions, there may be more to come but it'll be a few weeks. If you are interested in any of these guys then please send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com (remove spaces). Rabbits will only be held for longer then 7 days if they are fully paid for. Transport is the responsibility of the buyer from Grande Prairie AB (This is already an hours drive for us to get to the city from the ranch).

* SOLD * SLR's F82 Broken Black doe DOB September 25 2018 Decent brood doe, wonderful momma and very sweet, calm, laid back and friendly personality. One of the kids favorite bunnies in the barn. She is from the tri program but does not carry the tri gene so could go into any program. Just off a litter. $80 brood or $40 pet

* SOLD * SLR's Blake Black doe DOB August 5 2017 If we weren't parting with all our blacks, this gal wouldn't be going anywhere. She's an older doe and doesn't look like much but she clicks so well with the bucks here and always out produces herself. She is a tri carrier so should go into a tri program as she will only ever produce full extension animals(blacks/black otters) or tris/harlis depending on what she's paired with. If paired with a tort she genetically can not produce a tort but it will always be a harlequin/tri however probably lightly marked. She should have a few more litters in her but if she stays here, she can have a retirement home. Sweet doe who's easy to get along with and one of the best mommas, another of the kids favorites. $100 brood, $40 pet.

* SOLD * SLR's F140 Torted Black/orange tri doe DOB June 9 2020 I didn't grab some photos of this girl but hopefully can tomorrow. She's just off a litter and sure out produced herself. Is torted and lightly marked. Good mom, friendly, curious outgoing doe. $90 brood or $40 pet

A spring update on kits

 If you’ve been patiently waiting for a bunny from us then you might finally be in luck! We will have some available once they are weaned from their moms at 8 weeks. The first ones will be 8 weeks on March 17th. These little guys will be available a few days after they are weaned(to make sure that they are transitioning well and to help reduce stress) as they are colors from programs that don’t fit into what we have here. These ones are all out of the tri line and are either torts or blacks that I know of at this point. They are available regardless of type so there’s potential for show quality animals however when they are so young, it’s impossible for me to say what quality they will be when mature. So if you’re looking for a show animal, it’s a educated gamble at this point. Bucks and does will both be available and there maybe some normals(animals with two normal genes so will grow to that 4-5 pound range, which is heavier then the standard calls for) plus the crown development will be a guess at this age(some crowns may remain tight causing the ears to be erect and some will have fully lopped ears).

We will be requiring a 50% non-refundable deposit on these guys once they are weaned and posted for sale, to reserve which bunny you would like. Pet's are priced at $60 with no pedigree. Show and breeding stock go up from there. You are free to inquire before that point however we will not guarantee an animal or accept a deposit until they are weaned and doing well. I expect to have photos and information posted around March 17th and later for those litter weaned later.

We are located North west of Grande Prairie AB and any transport will be the responsibility of the buyer to arrange and make payment for

Here's what's in the box for litters(not all of these will be available)

DOB Jan 20/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd(tort) x SLR's F140(torted tri doe) had 5, 2 tort bucks, 1 torted harlequin, 1 torted tri buck and what I think is a minimally marked torted tri doe.

DOB Jan 22/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F82(broken black) has 4, 2 tort does, 1 black buck and one broken black doe(may be holding her back to replace her mom).

DOB Jan 22/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F103(Chestnut) has 3, 2 torts, 1 buck and 1 doe and one black doe.

DOB Jan 25/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F100(torted tri doe) has one torted black/orange tri doe(she'll be held back for now).

DOB Feb 3/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd x SLR's F94(tort doe) has two tort bucks who will be grown out for a bit here before possibly being available.

DOB Feb 10/21 SLR's F88(tort black and orange harlequin buck) x SLR's F138(broken chestnut) has 5, 1 black buck, 1 broken black doe, 1 broken chestnut doe(will be held back for a bit), 1 black and orange harlequin doe(will be held back for a bit) and 1 black/orange tri buck(will be held back).

DOB Feb 13/21 Grand Champion LLL James(broken black)  x SLR's F105(black/orange harlequin) has 3, 1 torted black/orange harlequin buck, 1 clean orange doe and 1 clean black/orange tri buck- This whole litter will be held back for awhile.

DOB March 3/21 Grand Champion LLL James x SLR's F107(black/orange harlequin) has 1 harlequinized chesnut.

DOB March 3/21 Grand Champion LLL James x SLR's Honeybee(torted black/orange harlequin) has 1 black.

DOB March 3/21 Grand Champion SLR's Sundance Kidd x Nolands BMG2(broken tort) has 1 broken tort.

DOB March 5/21 Grand Champion LLL James x SLR's F110(torted black/orange harlequin) has 1 broken black.

Just about all the torts and blacks will be available and the ones that are specified as being held back for now, will be grown out here until a later date and may or may not be available depending on type development then.

We are also planning a herd reduction hopefully before we start calving so will have some brood stock available mostly tri/harlequin animals. If you are interested then send me an e-mail at starlitrabbitry @ hotmail.com (remove spaces). We are approaching our busy time of year at calving so please be patient on the reply, if I haven't replied to you within a couple business days then please send me another e-mail. Please e-mail me instead of leaving a comment on this post - I don't check them and don't get notifications of comments to know they are there.
